What to look for                                                                                  When looking for a guinea pig remember their natural instinct is to run away from humans as in the wild they are hunted. When choosing a new puppy they say to choose the one that comes running towards you. when choosing a guinea pig choose on that runs away as you can see its` fit and healthy in the way the joints move and that its lungs are working. another sign of good health is that there is no discharge coming from the eyes. Another good tip is to see if the guinea pig eats anything as this will prove it has no problems with its` teeth. Guinea pigs have powerful incisor teeth which are seldom used to attack. I have kept guinea pigs for 5 years and never been bitten. When acquiring your guinea pig always ask how old the guinea pig is as they should never be taken away from there mother before the age of 6-8 weeks.

How many guinea pigs should you buy?                                                     

All guinea pigs need allot of attention and should be handled for up to an hour a day if you expect it to love you back. all guinea pigs can get lonely and should never be kept on their own. Guinea pigs should be kept in groups of more than one. rabbits have been proven to be great companions for guinea pigs.
